The New York Mets: A September to Possibly Remember.

Happiest of Sundays, 3 Day weekends and Labor Days to you all

It's time for another Rousing Edition of "Sunday Reading."

The Mets recently were victims of a 6 game Losing Streak which resulted in being swept by the Division Leading Atlanta Braves and the Holders of the 2nd Wild Card spot Chicago Cubs all at home. Before the Sweep of the Cubs, The Mets were Just 2 Games back of the Cubs, a Feat that was entirely realistic to catch up if they either swept the Cubs, Won two out of 3 or even lost 2 out of 3. Despite the possibilities, the Mets got swept by the Cubs as the Offense was MIA.

The Mets have recently taken a 3 game series from the Phillies in Philly and look for a potential sweep tonight on ESPN. I'm sure Buster Olney, Alex Rodriguez, Jessica Mendoza and The forced to be mellow Matt Vasgersian.

As the Mets enter September, They are only 4 games back of the Chicago Cubs for the 2nd Wild Card spot. The Division is most likely if not is out of the Question now, but a Wild Card push is 100% Realistic. The Mets need to Jump over Milwaukee, Arizona and Philly in order to get to the Cubs. If they continue to win Games or at least take Series from Teams, there is a Legitimate shot for the Mets.

Now focusing on Today, September 1st.

It's time for that time where Rosters for each team expand by bringing up virtually everyone on the 40 man Roster.

The Mets will be looking to Activate Brandon Nimmo off the 60 Day IL. Nimmo has been out since May with a Neck Injury. He'll most likely make his comeback starting today. Robinson Cano has miraculously made quite the Recovery. From tearing his Hamstring in Early August against Pittsburgh, He's already playing Rehab games for the Single A Affiliate Cyclones. It's impressive how someone can recover from a Tron Hamstring so quickly when he was originally projected to miss the rest of the Season after missing about a Month!

Another call up we'll most likely see is the MIA Jed Lowrie who has been out since February with a Leg injuries. He has suffered Setback, after Setback, After Setback, after Setback. He's finally playing Rehab games with the Triple A Affiliate Syracuse Mets and should be up soon as well!

Going to the Call-ups now, We'll most likely see these Players called up:

Tyler Bashlor, Chris Flexen, Drew Gagnon, Donnie Hart, Chris Mazza, Stephen Nogosek, Corey Oswalt and Daniel Zamora.

Yes, I know it's mostly Pitchers, but understand that there aren't any other Infielders or Outfielders on the 40 Man that aren't already here (Luis Guillorme, Rajai Davis).

With Teams out of Post Season contention, this is a time where they look to Evaluate their Minor League Talent and see what good they could be next season or in the Future.  For Teams like the Mets and others that are contending for a Post Season spot, This spells extra insurance for their starters and gives the Bench and Bullpen more options instead of using the same guys and worrying about who will be used.

Sure, some names called up no matter who the team is may not be attractive at all, but the Teams will certainly take the extra help and rest to their starters they will take.

As mentioned before, the Mets will look to take the potential sweep against the Phillies today, then Try to win against the Nationals.

The Schedule looks difficult but Winnable. The Mets finish up this Road Trip with a 3 game series against the Nationals starting Monday. They go Home to play the Phillies again, Arizona for 4 games and Wrap up a Home-stand with the Dodgers. After the Home-stand, they go to Colorado for 3 games and end the Road trip in Cincinnati. The Final Home-stand for the Mets will be against Miami for 4 games and Wrapping up the Season with the Division Leading Atlanta Braves.

These are Definitely Winnable Series, but it will be Difficult! No one said that Baseball was easy no matter who you faced. It's going to take everything the Mets have to win these games and make a Post Season Push for the Wild Card spot that the Cubs currently Occupy. There is a Shot, a Legitimate shot!

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Don't listen to Radio shows to TV Shows where the Narrative is "The Mets are Always Wrong." It's the easiest thing to do for most Sports Radio Hosts and Writers out there.

In Conclusion, The Turnaround the Mets had at the Start of the 2nd half put them in this position and even though the Mets had a big bump in the road in the Form of being Swept by Atlanta and The Chicago Cubs, The Mets are still very much alive in the Wild Card Race. If the Mets get into the Post Season Via the Wild Card, The Season is deemed Successful despite the Atrocious First Half.

If the Mets miss the Post Season by Just a few games (3 Max), then the Season is still deemed a success. If the Mets completely Fall through the Floor, then obviously it will be deemed a Failure.

The Point to this Conclusion is that Nobody could've predicted such a turnaround for this Mets team and if things continue to go the Mets way, it could spell good things for them!

That's all for Today!

Until the Next Article my Friends,

LETS GO METS!!!
