A Race to The Finish: The Mets Run to the Playoffs.

Happy go lucky Sunday everyone!

It's time for yet another thrilling edition of "Sunday Reading!"

Today, we'll discuss the Mets push to the Post Season!

During the Home stand so far, the Mets are 5-1 at home after Sweeping the what were hot Arizona Diamondbacks in a 4 game series and taking a game from the recently 7 time Division winning Dodgers with a Rubber game to be played tonight. If the Mets win, their home stand will be a very satisfying 6-1! If the Mets lose tonight, they'll be 5-2 on this Home stand. Either way, the Home stand will be deemed a Successful one and you'd have to be on another world to consider it a failure.

The Mets are playing very Good Baseball, So good that they are only 3 games back of the 2nd Wild card spot. A Shot at the first Wild Card spot is not out of the Realm of possibility as well! As crazy as it sounds, the Mets have a Legitimate shot at the First Wild Card spot with the currently occupying Washington Nationals hitting a Snag on what once was a 4 and a Half game stranglehold on the First Wild Card spot. That Stranglehold has now become what could be described as hanging on by a Thread so-to-speak. The Nationals are now hanging onto a 1 and a Half game lead grip of hope with the Brewers, Mets, and even the Diamondbacks fighting for extended seasons in the form of October Baseball!

In a Season where the Mets had a miserable first half of Baseball and all seemed lost going into the All-Star break. No one and I mean no one could've expected the Mets to be where they are today! Going from 11 games under .500, 7 games out of the Wild Card spot. A feat that would be that is deemed virtually impossible by experts, fans, writers etc. But somehow, someway, the Mets have scratched, clawed, bled, fought and battled their way back from playing .440 Baseball now to .520 Baseball! The Mets have gone 37-21 since the All-Star Break! That is absolutely incredible and absolutely unexpected by anyone!

The Mets are now in prime fighting territory for the Wild Card spot and with this surge of the Mets, if they make the playoffs, I would think that this would be labeled as one of the most Incredible comebacks in Major League baseball history! I could be 100% wrong, but I would think that would have to be considered a Historic turnaround by a team!

An argument can be made that the Mets have played against teams that aren't good at all. Here's the thing though, Wins are wins no matter how you slice or dice them! The Mets won the games they had to win and earned their spot to where they are now! Yes, there were some hard and painful losses along the way, but that's how the game is. You're obviously not going to win them all and that's why the games are played.

The manager Mickey Callaway was being demanded to be run out of town by the Fans, Writers and New York radio talk show hosts because of his questionable decisions and attitude. Well, The Mets players and staff believe in him as the Skipper including General manager Brodie Van Wagenen. The players play for Callaway, they support him and when a controversy comes up where the media was asking players if they support him, you can put it to the bank that they put it to the media that they are all in with Callaway as the Skipper.

If the Mets make the post season, Mickey Callaway may indeed have a legitimate shot at the Manager of the Year award! Despite all the rumors, demands and bashing that Callaway has taken during this season, there is a legitimate shot that he can be one of the best managers of the year should the Mets either make the Post season or Just miss it by a game or two.

Back to the Mets and their push for the Post Season. The Mets have 14 games left of the Regular season to go. They have one more Road trip to go on and that is to Colorado for 3 games and to Cincinnati for another 3 games before coming back home to close out the season with a 4 game series against the Marlins and a 3 game Finale against the Division Title winning Atlanta Braves. These are indeed Winnable games for The Mets. They will however need to buckle down and dig deep to win these remaining 14 games and make the Final push to clinch the Wild card spot and the Playoffs!

That's all for Today!

Until the Next Article my Friends,

LETS GO METS!!!
