Polar Bear Power: Pete Alonso is the New Rookie Home Run King!!!

Happy first Sunday of Autumn everyone! I hope you all have your Pumpkin Spice flavored whatever ready, Because it's time for a Thrilling edition of "Sunday Reading!"

With the events that occurred last night, we'll be talking about the one and only, Pete Alonso!

Last night in the Mets vs. Braves game at Citi Field during the 4th Inning, History was made as Pete Alonso broke Aaron Judge's rookie Home Run Record by hitting Home Run #53! Citi Field erupted at the crack of Alonso's bat crushing the ball to center field and landing in the seats! The event was witnessed by not only those sitting at Citi Field, It was witness by those in Atlanta, at Home in New York, by Employees of Major League Baseball, Teammates, you name it! It was breaking news around the entire league and it was such a historic moment, The Empire State Building lit up in Blue and Orange in Celebration of Alonso's historic feat!

Alonso has been the Talk of the Mets and not just for being a great player, but for the kind of Leader he is in the Mets clubhouse! I can go on and on about how great he is off the field, but I'll list one thing that makes him such an amazing Human being!

The home run was such an Incredible historic moment, that it deserves Recognition!

Before the September 11th game this year at Citi Field, Pete Alonso got a hold of MLB and requested the use of First Responder hats during the Game. Unfortunately, his request was shot down, but that didn't stop the Polar Bear. Pete decided to have custom 9/11 Cleats inscribed with the words "Never Forget" on them for all of his teammates. He got his teammates shoe sizes and on the Day of the September 11th game, the cleats were delivered to Citi Field!

Alonso said: "For me, I did just come from a place where I want to show support not just to the victims but to the families as well, because no one knows how deep those emotional scars can be. Living here, just kind of interacting with everybody, I've tried to immerse myself -- just kind of the New York living. ... I just want to show recognition to all the people who are just heroes, just ordinary people that just felt the sense of urgency and the admirable call of duty. This is for all those people who lost their lives and all those people that did so much to help." - SNY

With MLB having Red Tape around this, Alonso and the Mets did not ask MLB for permission to wear 9/11 Cleats. As a Result of this, Major League Baseball made the very smart and correct decision not to punish Pete Alonso or the Mets. Had they punished Pete or the Mets for the Cleats, can you imagine the Outrage from Players, Coaches, Front office Executives, other teams, Announcers, Radio shows and even the fans? Major League Baseball would be under a lot of Fire if they performed such an act!

Joe Torre came on WCBS during a Mets game, was asked about the matter by Howie Rose and said this: "We're just trying to keep it consistent. Certainly it's not a lack of respect. It's just something we feel is the right thing to do." - SNY

Lots of people disagreed with Joe Torre's comments and I'll just leave it at that.

Now I digress.

Pete Alonso has said that he's going to Donate these 9/11 cleats of his to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum

There is absolutely no way you can dislike this young man! Pete Alonso has become what some can consider an Icon in New York! Some would even say he's the next in line to be Captain of the New York Mets! If that's the case, I wholeheartedly agree with them!

Since Day one, All Pete Alonso has ever done with the Mets is Hit, Hit, Hit, Hit, Hit, Hit, Hit, Hit and Hit! He mashed his way to the Home Run Derby where he won the whole thing without needing to use the extra bonus time he earned in each round! Some fans were upset on how Alonso won the Derby, but the point was winning the Home Run Derby was how many Home Runs you hit in each round, not the total amount you hit in the entire derby! They were upset that Vlad Guerrero Jr., who hit 91 Home runs total lost to Pete Alonso who hit 57 Total home runs! Again, the Derby is measured by how many Home Runs you hit that round, not the entire night. The Polar Bear won the Home Run Derby at the end of the night and was congratulated by all other participants of the Derby as well his teammates, both on the Mets and his All-Star game Teammates!

After Pete won the Home Run Derby, Lots of people feared his swing would be altered in a negative fashion due to the Derby. Boy, were all those people wrong! Alonso continued to mash Home run, after Home run. Leading up to the Record Breaker, Alonso started a Tradition of Ripping shirts off after Walk off hits and it Started with Michael Conforto hitting a Walk off hit against the Washington Nationals, in which could only be described as the Win of the Year in an Amazing 7-6 Come from Behind Mets win! Pete Alonso Ripped off a total of 4 Jerseys (If you count his own Jersey being Ripped off). JD Davis hit a Game winning a few games later, Alonso himself literally got a Walk off Walk and Brandon Nimmo was the last Recipient of the Jersey ripping or in his case, Jersey taking offing.

The leadership Pete Alonso displays, the Positive Attitude he has, The Fun he has during each game win or lose, It's virtually impossible to not like him!

During the 2nd half of the Season, Alonso Rallied all Mets fans by saying this on Twitter and it has stuck with the fans: "#LFGM"

That Hashtag sparked the fans and it was also when the Mets took off and came from 11 games under .500 with no chance of a Playoff spot, to The Mets scratching and Clawing their way being Relevant in the Wild Card race! The Mets were unfortunately Eliminated from the Wild Card race on Thursday, September 26th before Losing to the Miami Marlins that night.

Friday, September 27th, Pete Alonso tied Aaron Judge's Home run Record with a Home run to left Field! Finally, Saturday, September 28th, The Polar Bear broke the Home Run Record making it his own and having a Roar of Cheers not only from the Fans at Citi Field, but from his Teammates, Coaches and Family! He was dubbed by the Media and by fans as the New Home Run King!

Another thing that's incredible, is that Aaron Judge was asked about him and had nothing but Praise for not only Pete Alonso, but for the Mets as well! Judge even said that he wanted to take Alonso out for Dinner as well, as long as Judge himself paid, which had some laughter around not only the Yankees Clubhouse with the Media asking him, but Alonso laughed when he heard about the Dinner offer from Judge through the Media.

In Conclusion, Pete Alonso is exactly what this Mets team needs for years to come! He is the Leader that this team needs, The Positive Energy he exerts is absolutely Contagious among teammates and Fans and The Polar Bear is 100% Worth the Price of admission whether you're seeing Pete Alonso and the Mets play at Citi Field or somewhere on the Road! There's nothing more that I can say that would express the Love that Not only I have for Pete Alonso, but from I can tell fans have for him!

That's all for today!

Until the Next article my Friends,

LETS GO METS!!!
