Mets Poor Performance, Injuries and Fan Frustration.

Last Night's Mets Loss Stung like a Horrific Scorpion Sting or even a Sting Ray Sting....But it got me thinking:

I Remember Listening to a John Sterling Interview and he said in 1989-1991 with the Yankees, The Yankees were doing TERRIBLY! The fans and the Newspapers were calling for Steinbrenner's Head as well as Bob Quinn's at the time. Sterling said something on the Air during a game that is 100% Accurate and shows how STUPID Fans can be. He said "What are you blaming George Steinbrenner and Bob Quinn for? Blame the Players! They're the ones who can't get anyone out!"

A Lot of Fans will now say "Who cares about the Yankees? You're a Yankee Fan for Listening to him"

To Counter this, I will say: I am 100% NOT a Yankee fan, I am a METS Fan! I pay attention to a lot of things around the league. I want to learn everything I can about the Competition and want to know what goes on so I'm not out of the Loop!

As Much as Mets fans HATE John Sterling, He makes a Damn Good Point....You can't blame the GM or the Owners, they did all they could and it's up to the Players to Produce! Call-ups, DFA's, Trades, Benchings aren't always the answer! A Team isn't making a Trade, Call-up, DFA or a Benching for the sake of it.

Look at the Arizona Diamondbacks: Once on top of their Division, have faltered and landed in Second Place in the Division with Colorado in First Place and San Fran, LA and San Diego not too far behind them! Arizona has taken such a Nose Dive, it's not even funny! They were the Talk of the Town so to speak, the Unstoppable team! Now, they're scratching and Clawing their way back to the Top of the Division with a lot of pressure behind them.

A Lot of Teams are doing A LOT worse than the Mets! They are 27-28 and UNDER .500 for the First time this Season. They are 6 Games out of First Place, They have Matz coming back Sunday, Frazier and Swarzak coming back Very Soon, Cespedes is hopefully coming back soon, Syndergaard to come back During the Subway Series (Hopefully).

The Mets have a ROOKIE Manager who is Dealing with Horrific Bullpen Struggles, Bats struggling and Poor Defensive Play in the Form of Airmailing Throws, Not Turning Double Plays, Third Base Not being able to make plays, Missing the Cut-off Man, etc. Callaway is Handling the New York Media PERFECTLY! He isn't cracking under pressure, He isn't saying anything wrong and Most Importantly, He Believes in his Team! The Fans may not, but he sure as Hell does!

Reyes' Error last night at 3rd Base, Conforto's Airmailed throw that didn't hit the Cutoff Man (Which Callaway Called him out for) and a bunch of other things. Reyes is NOT Comfortable at 3rd Base at all, But with Bruce Leaving the game early last night, Bautista coming in to replace him, wanting Sewald to go Multiple Innings and No Other Options, Callaway wasn't going to take Rosario or even Cabrera out! Especially with the Pitcher due up to bat in the Bottom Half of that Inning. Evans isn't going to get the Job done, in fact, I don't think Evans has a lot of experience or is that defensively sound like Guillorme is. BTW, I'm NOT Trying to speak ill Will of Philip Evans,

The Mets Fans think Blaming Sandy Alderson, The Wilpons, Callaway, Eiland, Glen Sherlock or Whomever will get something done. They Think that A Firing of Alderson MIDSEASON will Dramatically Change the Team. A Firing of the GM MIDSEASON will tell the Team "We're giving up and aren't thinking about Winning this year!"

Asking, No....DEMANDING for the Wilpons to sell the team or even Creating Petitions for the LEAGUE to take the Team Away from the Wilpons because they are "Too Cheap" and Not Winning.

I've seen some Ridiculous Things, I've even seen NY Hockey Fans chip in for a Billboard Posting "Fire Garth Snow" which By the Way, Did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! $3,000+ Down the Drain! A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY! This Petition to the League to get rid of the Wilpons is absolutely Ridiculous! They have done NOTHING illegal. They were Victims of Bernie Madoff's Ponzi Scheme, Not like they killed a man or Robbed someone at Gun Point or said anything Racist or Offensive! All This is, is Fan Frustration that has hit the Stupidity Wall!

The Mets went to The WORLD SERIES in 2015 when NO ONE said they would even SNIFF the Playoffs and Picked WASHINGTON to Win the Division! The Mets won the Division and Washington Faltered! EVERYONE Picked the Dodgers to win, Mets beat them. Lots picked the Cubs to win, The Mets SWEPT Them WITHOUT EVER TRAILING THE CUBS! In the End, the Mets got Defeated by the Royals in the World Series.

2016, A TON of Injuries fell on the Mets! Remember, Reyes came aboard and was a LIFE SAVER and a A Spark for the Team!

The Mets Lost, Cespedes, Reyes, Cabrera, Matz, Harvey, Lagares, Duda, Walker, d'Arnaud and Wright to Injuries! They called back Jon Niese (Who is now a Free Aent after being Released by the Rangers this year) who eventually went down with a Knee Injury.

Michael Conforto at the time let Bumgarner get in his head and struggled so much, that the Mets sent him down to AAA! The Mets used: James Loney, TJ Rivera, Matt Reynolds, Ty Kelly, Seth Lugo, Robert Gsellman, Jay Bruce, Grandy and Alejandro De Aza! Bruce was Acquired for Dilson Herrera, De Aza was signed was going to be a Starting Outfielder BEFORE the Mets Eventually Signed Cespedes!

With that Injury Riddled Lineup, The Mets made the Playoffs with the Only Healthy Players since Day 1 of the Season being Colon, Syndergaard, Blevins, Reed, Familia, Grandy and De Aza!

The Mets in 2017, Lost a lot of pieces and ended up RETOOLING!

This Season, they have a Brand New Coaching Staff, training Staff and some new Faces in the Front Office! Fans are so Quick to Judge and so Quick to give up it's not even funny anymore!

I would love to see one of these Angry fans run a team. They wouldn't last long and they wouldn't know what to do in these Pressure Situations ESPECIALLY in a New York Market!
