Young Guns of the New York Mets.

This Mets season isn't what Fans expected, Having an Incredible 11-1 Start and then Free Falling in May and June due to the Offense virtually forgetting how to hit a Baseball. However, After the All-Star Break, The Mets had one of, If not The Best 2nd Halves of all Teams in the League! Now, With that Being said, there were some signs of Hope for next season and I'll begin to explain:

Amed Rosario:

Rosario came up last season and had difficulty at the Plate, His defense and speed were never an issue though. This year, he started hitting 9th in the order AFTER the Pitcher and Continued to have difficulty at the Plate, especially with horrific Plate Discipline. However, Defense and Speed weren't an issue. Throughout the year though, Rosario's Plate discipline improved slowly but surely, and When put in the Lead-off Spot, Rosario's bat came alive, Hitting Base hit, Singles, Doubles, Triples and even Home Runs! Rosario, looks to have improved Dramatically and may have found a permanent Home in the Lead-off Role next season for the Mets! Under the Mentorship of Jose Reyes last year and this year, Amed Rosario has blossomed into what some may call The Second coming of Jose Reyes! On David Wright's Final game of the Season, Rosario sat in the Bench until The Captain Left the game as a Player forever and Took over for his Mentor, Reyes at Shortstop. On the Final game of the Season, Reyes Started at Shortstop and had only 1 At-Bat, After that, Reyes was taken out and Amed Rosario. Reyes got a Proper Send-off and his Protege took over at Shortstop for the Rest of the game, indicating that Reyes had handed the Position of Shortstop over to the Future of the Mets, Amed Rosario!

Brandon Nimmo:

What Can I say about this Young man? He is an Absolute Delight to Watch! You can't say anything bad about him! When Yoenis Cespedes went down with what would later be diagnosed as Calcification in both heels and be out for the Entire Season, Brandon Nimmo would get Starts in Left Field, Center Field and Right Field. He took his Opportunities and Ran with it! Nimmo may have Solidified his spot for next season. With Cespedes expected to be out for at least until June or July, This will be Brandon Nimmo's time to shine! Not only did he Flash the Leather, but he had a terrific Bat! Yes, Terrific! So much so, that his name was Mentioned in the Same Sentence as Mike Trout when it came to OPS! Not only did he get base hits, he would get on Base via by walk or Hit-by-Pitch. The Amount of Energy that this young man exerted was absolutely Contagious, Especially when he would draw a Walk! He wouldn't walk to First, No! He would Sprint to First Base! Gary Cohen even dubbed Brandon "The Happiest Man in Baseball" and how could you disagree? Brandon Nimmo had the Biggest Smile of EVERYONE in the Entire Sport! Getting on Base, Hitting the Ball and best of all, Hitting a Home Run! After he would hit a Home Run, You'd see that Brilliant Smile of his light up an Entire Ball Park! Nimmo's Defense though, He would Hustle on Every play! Making Diving Catches, Running down fly balls, you name it! Some fans would say "He's Just a 4th Outfielder" but others will counter and say that he 100% Deserves to be a Starter Next Season!

Michael Conforto:

Starting the Year on the Disabled List, Conforto never started off on the right foot at the beginning of the Season. He was recovering from a Freak Injury which was Dislocating his shoulder and Tore his Posterior Capsule in his Non-throwing Shoulder while swinging the bat during an At-Bat in September of 2017 and missed the Rest of the Season and had surgery shortly after suffering said Injury. Conforto didn't participate in Spring Training and was Activated April 5th. He struggled heavily in the First Half of the Season, but once the Second half started, Conforto took off! He had a Career year in 2017, with 27 Home Runs, 68 RBIs and 2 Stolen Bases before getting hurt. This year though he had another Career Year! He totaled 28 Home Runs, 82 RBIs and 3 Stolen Bases! Whether Conforto's struggles were simply struggles or figuring out how to cope/work/Adjust around the Shoulder Injury, his 2nd Half put most of the Talk of him dealing with the Injury to bed! Conforto is Definitely a better Corner Outfielder than a Center Fielder in my opinion, But there is no Doubt that he will be the Starting Left Fielder come next season with Cespedes out for at least the First Half. When Cespedes comes back though is a different story.

Jeff McNeil:

There is a lot to say about Jeff McNeil, but I'll keep it as condensed as I possibly can. Before Asdrubal Cabrera was traded to Phillies, Jeff McNeil was called and made his First Major League start at 3rd base, A Position he was completely unfamiliar with. Once Asdrubal Cabrera was traded, McNeil became the Starting 2nd Baseman by default. Like any player Just called up from the Minors, He needed to get Acclimated to the Major Leagues. His Defense was questionable when he was called up, Turning Double Plays were a concern as well. But, With each start he got at 2nd Base, The better his defense got. Each Day he kept getting better and better, He made some Terrific Plays at 2nd Base.

Pictured above is a Catch he made during a game and what I call "Channeling his Inner Superman" by diving out to make incredible Catches. McNeil's offense was Incredible this year as well! Hitting a Whopping .329 Batting Average, Hitting Virtually everything he saw! So much so, that even Pitchers such as Jacob deGrom, Zack Wheeler, Jason Vargas and Steven Matz were using his awkward looking Bat to get hits which they did! Overall, McNeil has proven to be what some fans call "Daniel Murphy 2.0" My comment to that is that McNeil isn't just Daniel Murphy 2.0, But he's overall BETTER than Murphy DEFENSIVELY! If McNeil can keep hitting everything he sees and continue to have success, He'll most definitely be Daniel Murphy 2.0 if not Better Than Daniel Murphy!

As you can see, I have high hopes for these 4 Players and Will have high hopes when First Base Prospect, Peter Alonso comes up the Big Leagues in 2019! But that's for another blog at a Later time!

Until the Next Blog my Friends,

LETS GO METS!!!
