Jose Reyes/Hanley Ramirez Situation.
As we All know, Jose Reyes hasn't Just struggled at the Plate, He's been in a WICKED Slump since the Beginning of the Season trying to Adjust to his new role as a Pure Utility man.
What does that Mean Exactly?
Well, it means he's able to Play Multiple Positions. Those Positions are His main Position at Shortstop where he is mainly the Backup to Rosario (his Successor), 2nd Base (His Original Position), 3rd Base, Left Field, Center Field and Right Field. With that being said, Reyes is able to play almost anywhere despite the awful At-Bats he's been having.

Now, Hanley Ramirez as we all know was Designated for Assignment by the Red Sox Yesterday. He's 302 Plate Appearances short of reaching 497 before he's able to get his 2019 Option. Ramirez needs 1,050 Plate Appearances TOTAL, that's between 2017 and 2018 in order to get his 2019 Option!
With Ramirez, He WAS able to play Shortstop (Which was his Main Position), 3rd Base and the Outfield (Primarily Left Field). Last time he played any other Position other than First Base was in 2015 when he played 3rd Base and Left Field. Since then, He's been Relegated to 1st Base and the DH (Which I absolutely Hate).
Ramirez is batting .254 which is a Gem compared to Reyes' .143 Batting Average.
Why Do Fans want Hanley?
Simply for the Reason of what the Fans say "Reyes Sucks, Designated Him for Assignment!" The Issue with Designing Reyes for Assignment, it leaves Luis Guillorme with the Full Utility Man Role until Frazier gets back then that belongs right back to Flores. Another Issue with Designating Reyes for Assignment, Guillorme can NOT be Wasted on the Bench! He needs to play Everyday! So Far, he's shown some great Glove at 2nd and 3rd Base and Good Range....But for him to sit on a Regular Basis when Frazier gets back is like asking Rosario to Sit in Favor of Reyes....It makes no sense for a Young Gun like Guillorme to sit and waste away on the Bench when he can play Everyday in the Minor Leagues and Continue to Develop.

If the Mets were an American League Team (Thankfully they're not), then Picking up Ramirez makes sense seeing as he can act as your Designated Hitter and have a Reason to sit on the bench. He'd probably get his bats a lot while maybe playing some First Base. He'd also get the At-Bats necessary to reach the Amount to get his 2019 Option.
The Mets are being very Smart in Regards of NOT Going after Ramirez, He would be wasting away on the Bench and Probably not used much until the Mets go to an American League Park which is in July when they go to Toronto when they Play the Blue Jays. If anything, He'll get a start or two at First base, but that Position Mainly Belongs to A-Gon (Adrian Gonzalez) and (Wilmer) Flores!
Fans want a Fresh Bat and I don't blame them, but when Frazier comes back, I don't think that the Mets will want Guillorme to Waste away on the Bench when they can Easily afford to do that with Reyes. Reyes is Possibly, If not At the Tail End of his Career and can be Used in Said Utility Role and Sit on the Bench.
Remember this, The Mets also have a Bunch of Old Men Position Players who are and/or over the Age of 34 on the Roster are A-Gon, Reyes and (Jose) Bautista. They DO NOT Need a 4th Old man in Ramirez! 2 of those 3 Players are Sitting on the Bench for the Mets while the other one is Playing Almost Everyday!
We all knew why Reyes was brought back and that was to be the Utility Infielder and Backup SS to (Amed) Rosario in case of Injury or needing a Day off. Bautista was brought in to STRICTLY Be a Bench Player behind (Brandon) Nimmo, (Michael) Conforto, (Jay) Bruce and Maybe (Yoenis) Cespedes when he comes back.
So What Would Ramirez do exactly?
Take the Time to Think about this.
LETS GO METS!!!
