Locker Clean Out Day for the Islanders

It's been a while, but I Figure I give my Opinion on what happened on Clean out Day for the Isles:

My thoughts on this are that Snow and Weight Returning AS OF RIGHT NOW are good, Reason being is that it can be used as Leverage to get JT to Sign long term.

Seeing that JT "Trusts and Believes" in Snow and Weight, I see no Issue in keeping Weight around and Snow around IF JT Re-signs.

IF JT Re-signs (Which I think he will), Snow stays as GM for one more year. Then, I think he should relinquish his GM's Role and take the President's role in a Ron Francis like way, Where whomever the new GM is reports Directly to the Owners and Snow will have no Control over Players, On Ice decisions, Trades or drafting. That is something I am willing to live with if Snow has to stick around (I'm sure some of you will be fine with that given the circumstances I just listed).

IF However JT Decides to leave (Don't think he will), Weight will stay, but Snow will most likely be shown the Door.Whomever the GM is at that point is an Utter Mystery Obviously but that will Symbolize that Barzal should be the New Captain, But it also may result in another Rebuild seeing as the Organization will be losing its "Face of The Franchise."

JT Re-signing may also result in Free Agents Possibly wanting to come and Play for the Isles because of: #1. JT and #2 which will sweeten the deal: Barzal (The Virtually Guaranteed Calder Cup Winner). Having One of the Best top 2 Lines in the League can persuade some big names and if said big names sign with the Isles (Forward and/or Defenseman), Just another Step Closer to the Cup!

Why didn't I list a Goaltender you may ask? Well, Because there aren't any to many options for a #1 Goaltender in Free Agency or by Trade for that Matter. The Only Options for Possible Starting Goaltenders (Gonna Be Reaching here) are: Ondrej Pavelec, Kari Lehtonen, Cam Ward, Carter Hutton and Anton Khudobin. Do I think any of them are worth Signing? Absolutely not. The Reason is? None of them are Starting Material....Ward is getting up there in Age and if the Isles were to want to sign him, He'd probably ask for a lot, and If that's the case and JT Re-signs, the Isles (Depending on if and how much the Cap raises) will have to spend money wisely. IF Soderstrom does play for the Isles, then there's your starting Goaltender....BUT, if he spends time in Bridgeport, I think Jaro Halak should be signed to a One Year Extension....As to why Jaro Halak? There aren't many options out there in the Trade Market that will Flood the Cap and will make it difficult to sign Free Agents or Trade for Big Name Forwards and/or Defenseman.

I'm Willing to give Snow one, Count it ONE more Draft and to see what he does with the additional Draft picks he's acquired....If he can Trade at least some, NOT all, but some of them for Big Name Players, I wouldn't have an issue with that....And if that's enough to Persuade JT to stay, or if JT has already Committed to stay, then even more of a Benefit.

As now for the Head Coach Doug Weight....After being interim Coach for the 2nd half of the 2016-17 Season, he and the isles were on pace for 107 Points, but were eventually eliminated One Day before the Season ended by the Toronto Maple Leafs by ONE Point....Doug Weight Earned the right to be the Full-time head coach and although the season has been disastrous for the most part, Some good comes out of it. One is the One of the Best top 2 lines in the league with Lee, JT, Bailey, Beauvillier, Barzal and Eberle....A Combined Total of 397 Points, a Combined of 163 Goals and a Combined Total of 234 Assists. Now the Suspect Defense, Will it Change? Honestly, I don't think it will, seeing as it's a very complex system and when executed Correctly, It can be VERY Effective. BUT, can it change? It's certainly Possible.

Assistant Coaches now are another Story, I think Richardson, Buchberger and Brathwaite Stay....Gomez and Cronin on the other hand I believe get the Boot! Who will they bring in? Who knows but I believe those two go. I can't say any names who will be good candidates for the Assistant Coaches Role.
